Item description from seller

Two copies of Harper Lee's "Go Set a Watchman" - the rare misprinted first state issue with the missing blocks of text, together with a second corrected text issue of the first UK edition, with all the text and correct page numbers present. ***First copy of the title: the rare withdrawn first issue of the first impression of the first UK edition, with full numbers string sequence including the no. "1" 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 on the printer's page - with lines of text and also page numbers missing from the bottom of pages 252, 261, 265, 268, 272 and 277. This first issue was quickly withdrawn from sale by the publisher and unsold copies were pulped. ***Very good in grey-blue boards with black titles to the spine. Boards clean and unmarked. No bumps or creasing. Corners sharp. Page block edges slightly marked and foxed, and there is a slight abrasion to the fore-edge. No other creases or tears. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Internally also near fine, with no inscriptions. Dark grey illustrated endpapers. Pages lightly tanned as usual. Some very light foxing spots in places. ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, that has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of £18.99. No chips or tears. No edge creasing. No fading. Dustwrapper bright. ***278 pages plus note on the author and note on the type to rear. 242mm x 162mm. ***Second copy of the title: the corrected second issue of the first impression, also with full numbers string sequence including the no. "1" 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 on the printer's page, and with the missing blocks of text restored. ***Near fine in grey-blue boards with black titles to the spine. Boards clean and unmarked. No bumps or creasing. Corners sharp. Page block edges slightly foxed. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Internally also near fine, with no inscriptions. Dark grey illustrated endpapers. Pages lightly tanned as usual. Some very light foxing spots in places. No creases or tears. ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, that has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of £18.99. No chips or tears. No edge creasing. No fading. Dustwrapper bright. ***'Written in the mid-1950s, "Go Set a Watchman" imparts a fuller, richer understanding and appreciation of Harper Lee --- an essential companion, adding depth, context and new meaning to a classic.' (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper) ***Two copies of "Go Set a Watchman": the withdrawn first issue first impression of the first UK edition, in its original dustwrapper, in very good condition, and also the corrected first impression of the first UK edition, in its original dustwrapper, in near fine bright collectable condition.
