The chapters include material from the newly translated The Function of the Orgasm; The Cancer Biopathy; Character Analysis; and Ether, God and Devil / Cosmic Superimposition, as well as many important articles never before published in book form. Wilhelm Reich's first steps in the direction of orgonomic functionalism were taken within the framework of the early psychoanalytic movement, but after 1934 his scientific interests and experiments lay entirely in the new field of Orgonomy, in which he was the sole authority. This anthology is not intended to replace any of Reich's other works, but rather to serve as an introduction to them. It is hoped that reading these selections will enable the reader to follow the functional logic and to experience the excitement of a scientific study which extended over a third of a century and which culminated in Reich's discovery of the Cosmic Life Energy~Orgone Energy.
