IAN FLEMING - FROM RUSSIA, WITH LOVE, published by MacMillan, copyright 1957, First Printing (states "First Printing" on copyright page with no references to subsequent printings - there was never a 2nd printing in this format), lists to "Diamonds Are Forever" on list of Fleming books to left of title page, white endpapers with cream cloth boards and black lettering on spine and front board, $3.50 price on DJ front flap. Book has flat white pages with sharp outer page corners, just a couple of creased page corners near front of book, no foxing to pages or endpapers, slight age darkening/dust soiling/foxing to outer page edges, endpapers are clean and free from any tape residue or erasures, no former owner's markings or used bookseller stamps/stickers inside, no wear to board edges or corners or to spine tips (minor bumping to spine tips only), tiny bumped board corner, no discoloration/soiling to boards, no spine sun fading. Dust jacket has small closed tear at bottom left on front cover otherwise no chipping, tearing or creasing, largish 'v' losses at top spine tip and sliver loss at bottom spine tip (no lettering affected), almost no wear to front flap crease (primarily at flap crease corners), no wear to left/right on spine, virtually no spine sun darkening, no soiling or age spots to panels, hint of dust soiling to white area on rear panel (common with this DJ), no color wear to panels or spine, almost no edge wear. Overall a FINE-/N-FINE book in VG+ condition dust jacket (not price clipped) of an Ian Fleming U.S. 1st printing hardcover book. While the last 4 Ian Fleming James Bond books are very common in the U.S. trade printing state, all of the U.S. Fleming books before On Her Majesty's Secret Service are quite scarce as the U.S. print runs were very very small (in comparison to the U.K. print runs) as the "bond mania" craze had not really hit the U.S. until after the release of Dr. No in the movie theaters in late 1962.
