Cracking at pp. 216-217 vol. I. The original title of this set was The English in America but was later changed. The author states his purpose in these volumes is to give a connected political history of the American colonies up to the War of Independence, enabling his readers to understand the phenomenon of the colonies' rebellion against Britain and the appropriateness of different types of government for particular populations.
