Printed by T.North Little Tower St (Basingstoke presumably) 1793 sold by Chapman & Co Booksellers No.161 Fleet Street; Chambers, Basingstoke,; Fuller, Newbury.' Inscribed after title page 'To the Inhabitants of the town of Basingstoke in the County of Hants; the follwing poem on 'The Ruins of a Temple' whose beautiful situation and venerable appearance unite to distinguish their neighbourhood is most respectully inscribed by their humble servant Joseph Jefferson, Basingstoke August 7 1793.' The property of English broadcaster and writer John Arlott who was born in Chapel St Lodge, Basingstoke. Original text with two colour illustrations by W.Alexander and S.Hooper.Mottled brown boards, slightly faded gold lettering on spine with some foxing on introductory and clear back pages - text and illustrations in good, clean condition for age.
