368pp with b/w illustrations [13 0f 20 present] and folding map at rear - bluish-green cloth with gilt illustrations - ex-library - binding rubbed and soiled and faded - wear and chipping to edges and hinges with some amateur tape repairs - hinges splitting - endpapers have been replaced - a few library stamps throughout - light foxing to margins - 7 illustrations missing - spine shaky and leaning - not the most attractive copy nevertheless it is a SCARCE 1st edition.
