A.M. Klein (1909-1972) was a major Canadian poet and an important figure in the Jewish-Canadian community. He was a member of the Montreal Group of modernist poets who were inspired by the works of W.H. Auden, T.S. Eliot, and Ezra Pound. In addition, much of his poetry was informed by his experiences as a Jewish Canadian. The Rocking Chair was his last work of poetry, and was something of a departure in terms of subject matter, focussing primarily on the themes of French Canada. It was one of his most notable works and considered by many to be his best. This copy appears to be an advance review copy as it comes with a request from The Ryerson Press for reviews of the work. This volume is in Very Good condition, with some staining to the cover and the front and back paste downs and flyleaves.
