More were planned, according to the notices in each book, but seem not to have been issued in this form. The volumes are: (1900) W. G. Brown: Andrew Jackson; Lois How: James B. Eads; P. E. More: Benjamin Franklin; R. W. Raymond: Peter Cooper; (1901) H. C. Merwin: Thomas Jefferson; George Hodges: William Penn; (1901, first editions) Walter Allen: Ulysses S. Grant; James B. Thayer: John Marshall; W. R. Lighton: Lewis and Clark; C. A. Conant: Alexander Hamilton; H. W. Boynton: Washington Irving; H. Hapgood: Paul Jones; (1902, first editions) W. G. Brown: Stephen A. Douglas; H. D. Sedgwick Jr.: Samuel de Champlain. These are the slightly cheaper 'school edition', with half-tone portraits in each. Small hardcovers, full brick-red cloth, black titling.
