On the train, he makes the acquaintance of a beautiful lady, the daughter of the British Resident of Ponta Rica, the island where he is trying to get a flying-field concession. there is a villain, persistent and resourceful, to oppose Praed, all sorts of mysterious men, and no lack of charming women.
