Item description from seller

This first edition copy of Jared Diamond's seminal work 'The Rise and Fall of the Third Chimpanzee' is in near fine condition, with just a faint mark on the front free endpaper where a small sticker has been removed. Otherwise the cover remains crisp, the binding secure and all pages fresh, clean and unmarked from beginning to end. Human genes differ by only 2% from those of the other two chimpanzees. The 'third chimpanzee' is man, and this book is about the ways in which we are uniquely human yet still influenced by our relatively recent animal origins.

Store description

I will begin by saying that mine is neither a conventional bookstore nor a conventional business. I have been a great reader and learner all my long life and have acquired a substantial number of books, which I began to sell off in a small way when I moved to a flat about ten years ago - and now that I am even older I am having to move once again in the next year or so, this time into an even smaller flat in a retirement community. In short, my Abe membership is a consequence of too little space and way too many books... My collection is fairly eclectic and mostly derives from my various hobbies, notably malacology and crafting. However there are a few more general items as well, some already owned by me, but also for the last five years or so I have enjoyed scouting around in charity shops testing my ability to acquire interesting oddities that I think might sell well. I like to be meticulous in what I do, and with regard to the books that I have for sale you may be sure that they will be packaged and sent to you with care, should you decide to purchase an item. Please enjoy my inventory!
