Gilt lettering and decorative pattern and raised bands on spine. Decorative cloth end papers. Bookplate laid in at interior front. Cloth book mark bound in. "Benjamin Jowett first issued this translation in 1870. In this edition, Professor Jowett enlarged his introductory remarks, and supplied many pages of "analyses." Illustrated with woodcuts by Fritz Kredel which embellish the beginnings of the various sections of this edition.
