Condition: Good. Tall heavy folio. 1st edition, this copy #272 of a limited 500. Rebacked green cloth with gilt stamped cover etching and design. Features 10 original etchings under protective tissue guards, with accompanying descriptive texts, by some of America's most influential 19th century artists, including Frederick Church, Robert Blum, James King, Stephen Parrish, Frederick Freer, H.N. Hyneman, Frank Gregory, Stephen Ferris, James Callahan, and C.F.W. Mielatz. Limited edition, numbered and signed by the publisher on the colophon. The covers have some light rubbing and slight gilt loss. Most conspicuous is some water damage affecting the bottom third of the front and back covers, which has ramified into the text, affecting the bottoms of some pages, and the very bottom portions of a few of the plate images. Most of the plates are unaffected, and the rest of the text is clean, with no foxing or other problems. A good copy of this rare and historic volume. Additional shipping will be required. In uncertain economic times, what better way to invest your hard-earned money than in items of lasting value you can hold in hand and enjoy.…
