Item description from seller

This is the original 1843 printing, NOT a modern reprint. Light wear to the blind embossed brown cloth binding. No slope, no twist, no distortion from reading or improper shelving. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. No foxing. The upper fore-edge corners of leaves 475/476 and 477/478 are torn away (no loss of text). Twenty-one engraved plates of fossils at the rear of the book. Plate IV is missing. This seem minor as it is devoted to the "use of minute scales in geological demonstrations." No name of previous owner. No musty odor. No tobacco odor. No water stains. No soiling. No sun fading. No dust jacket as issued.
