Colvin s first report. 43 pages with map. FIRST EDITION 1873. This is perhaps the most difficult of Colvin s reports ON THE Adirondack Survey to locate. Should be very good minus but better than most. Describes measurement of Blue mountain and Snowy mountain. Explored many of the high peaks including Seward, Seymour (Ragged Mountain), and Whiteface. He measured its height and traveled through Indian pass. Both maps are present. The large map of the region has old tape repair and separation at some fold corners. Has presentation inscription by E.E. Dickinson, bookplates on front endpaper. Formerly owned by environmentalist Louis Greppo. One neat catalog number written in suggestive of being exlib. Top of backstrip damaged. Other minor issues but very sound copy.
