, vi, 624 pages, complete with a long (642 163cm) folding frontispiece showing a Section Across Europe from the North of Scotland to the Adriatic, hand coloured. The Association wished to mark their inauguration with something special, and so in the frontispiece of this first edition, they published the first geological map of Europe from North to South- just over a decade after Smith's geological map of Great Britain. Articles include Report on the Progress of Astronomy during the present Century, Acoustics, Botany and Report on the Present State of our Knowledge of the Science of Radiant Heat, and etc. First Edition of the British Associations first report. Bound in brown buckram with titling on the spine. Modern bookplate on front pastedown and some faint stamps for Bristol Museum. See scans and email for more.
