French scholar and author Ernest Renan was a French thinker who wrote many studies on the developing faith and was eventually declared a heretic for his views on Christ and the validity of the Bible. Previously translated and edited by Joseph Henry Allen, this English translation was performed by Will G. Hutchison with a preface and lengthy introduction.
