Item description from seller

8vo. 358 pp, 2 pp advertisements. First edition with the Matthew’s imprint on the title page. So scarce that a copy has not come up at auction in over 100 years. In this copy, you have the opportunity to acquire a true first edition. As Defoe, best known for Robinson Crusoe (1719) and Moll Flanders (1722), got older, he became more pious, expounding in a series of Christian conduct books: The Family Instructor, Religious Courtship and Conjugal Lewdness / Matrimonial Whoredom. First edition, with "J. Brotherton, and W. Meadows" on the title page and errata on Page 358, per "A Checklist of the Writings of Daniel Defoe," by John Robert Moore (1960). Later editions in 1729, 1735 and 1737. Former owner's name (Sarah Cooke) on the inside back cover of a 19th-century binding with raised bands.
