[written by an abolitionist minister originally from a slaveholding Virginia family, one of many voices calling for an end to slavery in the United States.Moncure Daniel Conway (1832-1907) writes an impassioned plea for the emancipation of slaves, a minister and an ardent abolitionist, Conway spent his life writing and propounding equality and liberty for all. The second edition was published before the emancipation proclamation was issued, and in his preface to the book, Conway praises the work done by Abraham Lincoln and the White House leading up to it.] Publishers deep purple pebbled cloth, brown end papers.
