Add to basketSmall octavo. [1], x, 186 pages, [2]. Dark brown cloth hardcover stamped in blind on the covers. Gilt title on the spine. Spine is light faded. Slight lean to the binding. Light shelf and edge wear to the cloth binding. Previous owner inscription written on the front blank end paper "J??? M. Bennett May 1878". Small cracks to the gutters of pages with binding cords visible. Contents are mostly sturdy. Hinges intact. Contents clean. The author's father, C. G. Memminger, was the Secretary of the Treasury during the Confederacy. Reverend Memminger, from Charleston South Carolina, referenced Western North Carolina in the preface where he had a home in Flat Rock. About the time this book was published Memminger purchased another home in the Tampa Bay region. Contents are religious, philosophical, and reflective. Scarce.
