First edition. 12mo. [10], [1]-418, [10]pp. (advertisements at the rear). Publisher's red cloth, gilt lettering and black stamped design on the front cover and spine. Binding designed by Frederic W. Goudy (with his monogram). Sunning to the spine and bump at the foot, hinges are cracked, else very good. Early newspaper photograph of the author tipped in on the front free endpaper. Frederic Goudy, one of America's best type designers, also designed book covers in the first decade of 1900. A nice, early example of his work for this best-selling book of 1900.
