Item description from seller

1973. First edition. 158pp. Alan Garner (born 1934) is an English novelist best known for his children's fantasy novels and his re-tellings of traditional British folk tales. Red Shift is a fantasy novel of adolescent despair. It is set in Cheshire, England, in three time periods: Roman Britain, the English Civil War and the present. The book is bound in the original black boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition with light bumping to the bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with slight browning to the free endpapers. There is no inscription. The dustwrapper is very good with some shelf wear and light bumping to the bottom of the spine and the reverse of the wrapper shows some foxing on the flaps and along the top edge. The front flap has been clipped and there is a printed price of £1.60 net beside the clip.
