Sorsky 439. Gordon went to India as assistant surgeon of the Buffs and served with them in the Gwalior campaign. He was surgeon of the 10th in the Mutiny. In 1860 he was promoted Deputy Surgeon General and accompanied the expedition to China. He was in Paris during the siege having been sent by the War Office as medical commissioner to the French army. He was promoted Surgeon General in 1874 and ended his career as principal medical officer Madras Presidency.
