Item description from seller

Two auction catalogues featuring the Bushell collections. First is an auction catalogue for a Sotheby's sale on June 18, 1997 in London. Presumed printed and bound in Great Britain. Approx. 11 x 8.5 inches. Color illustrated paper-covered hardboards, with crisp white-stamped lettering. Generally unbumped spine head and tail, and with sharp corners. Exceptionally clean binding. Text block firmly bound in. With 87 numbered pages of coated stock and featuring 141 auction lots of Japanese inro and lacquer ware. Replete with color plates, a few full-page. A Very Good Plus to Near Fine copy. 1 lb. 4 oz. Also included, in very similar condition, a paperback auction catalogue for a Sotheby's sale on March 21, 2000, in New York. Raymond Bushell [1911-1998] was a well-regarded connoisseur of Japanese art and he published on that topic frequently, including seven books on netsuke that are considered standard works on the subject.

Store description

Welcome to the books platform of Marc Sena Carrel. I operated a professional book business between 2003 and 2017 in the San Francisco Bay Area, including via AbeBooks, and I am now a private party selling off fine books from my personal collection. I carry a choice selection of books, prints and ephemera for the discriminating customer. I focus on scholarly and antiquarian books, with a special emphasis on art books. From time to time I also offer original prints, including but not limited to antique Japanese ukiyo-e prints. Additionally I go in for occasional ephemera. Currently on offer via Abebooks are select titles. My selection is more eclectic and off the beaten path than mainstream and predictable. Please e-mail me at marcsenacarrel@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns. I will be happy to be of service. Thank you.
