571 Pages Indexed. September 1993 Paperback Edition of the 1992 Hardback release. Tight sqaure book with minor cover edge and corner wear. Faultless interior text. No marks or stamps. Twice-jailed scoundrel and the people's champion, builder of hospitals and schools and shameless grafter, pioneer of the New Deal, Kingfish of Massachusetts, compelling orator and master of political farce, James Michael Curley was the stuff of legend long before his life became fiction in Edwin O'Conner's classic novel The Last Hurrah. As mayor of Boston, as congressman, as governor of Massachusetts, Curley rose from the Irish slums in a career extending from the Progressive Era of Teddy Roosevelt to the ascendancy of JFK. The Rascal King is the spellbinding story of this remarkable man, his city, his people, and his times. Four eight page glossy black and white photographic sections Large heavy book that may incur additional charges for Priority Shipping to some locations.
