FIRST EDITION--The History and Art of Printing, by P. Luckombe, MTA, published in 1771 by W. Adlard and J. Browne, Fleet Street, London. This is, from all indications, a relatively new binding on a rare book that appears to be intact although its age is showing on some of the pages. According to at least one book dealer on the internet, Luckombe had published a similar book a year earlier that was titled "A Concise History of the Origin and Progress of Printing." This book -- the one I'm selling -- has what is often described as the Gutenberg frontispiece and a title page with the year of publication as 1771. No indication that this is anything but a first edition under this title. 502 pages plus four more pages at the rear that are a table of contents. Fore-edge and bottom of the pages are deckled and the top is cut smoothly. Light brown boards that appear to be leather with a splash of maroon and gilt on the spine. Many illustrations with examples of type faces, other languages, borders and musical scales. One of the photos of the title page shows what looks like a stain in the lower right corner. It is not. It's a shadow created by the photographer. Free shipping in the U.S. …

Store description
I am a long-time book collector who has sold on another website for a number of years and hope to broaden my exposure to other buyers, collectors. I provide every bit of information that I can based on my research on the value of an item as well as its edition, condition and rarity. I provide plenty of photos that show every book in detail. The last thing I want is a return, which, by the way, I have never had.
Specialty
Most of the books will be older books that may be harder to find. Majority of the books will be pre-Seller's business information
