Octavo, pp. [4], v-x, 259, [3]. Unstated first edition. Black cloth-covered boards with silver accents. Tanned edges and lightly tanned pages. Dust jacket with sunned spine, rubbing, chips and small tears; some small stains on back. Dust jacket now encased in a clear, protective cover. "Random Matrices and the Statistical Theory of Energy Levels" develops a "coherent and detailed treatment of random matrices as applied to the study of nuclear and atomic spectra." Madan Lal Mehta (1932-2006) was a theoretical physicist known for his work on random matrix theory. During his career he taught in the United States, France, and India.
