First UK edition of Rutherford s Nobel Prize-winning investigations on the mysteries of radioactivity. Contains eleven lectures delivered by Rutherford at Yale, in which he lays out the results of experiments with radioactive substances, including the discovery of the concept of radioactive half-life, the element radon, and the differentiated alpha and beta radiation. Published in 1906 by Archibald Constable & Co., two years before his Nobel prize win. Minor wear to the extremities and some spotting, but overall a very good copy of a scarce title.
