Octavos. Variously paginated. Complete 12 Volume Set. Hardcovers bound in burgundy 3/4 cloth with marbled paper-covered boards. The set is rubbed and bumped and shows average wear overall. Top edges of the text blocks are dust-stained. Endpapers are a bit foxed. The text of the volumes is mostly clean, although there are some areas of foxing. Volume VIII has some dried substance stuck to the bottom corner of the front cover, and there is a spot of damping at the lower corner of the first few pages. On Volume IX, the rear inner hinge is completely open, although the front inner hinge is secure. Otherwise the set is sound with secure inner hinges and the text is generally clean. Illustrated with a number of drawings and several photo or plates per volume.
