THE ROMAN CAMPAGNA AND ITS TREASURES BY GILBERT BAGNANI 1930 36 PLATES/3 MAPS. Having lived for a number of years along the New Appian Way (Via Appia Nova), this book would have been a wonderful reference. On offer here: The Roman Campagna and Its Treasures by Gilbert Bagnani. This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ¾ inches, 320 pages) was published by Charles Scribner s Sons of New York dated 1930 (a probable First American Edition). It is bound in dark red finely ribbed cloth boards with gilt titles on the spine. There are 36 b&w illustrations, blank on the reverse and 3 maps. In addition, the endpapers are decorated with two of those nice maps of the Roman Campagna (Northern and Southern Sections). Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust dulled and the spine is faded by the sun and has some white smears at its base. The boards are very lightly bumped. Inside there are some lightly penciled notations (bookseller prices-easily erasable) on the first blank page but those are the only marks I found in the book. The interior pages and photo plates are clean and bright without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
