BOOKPLATE OF DIXIE AND BING CROSBY on the front pastedown and the rubber stamp on the front free endpaper PROPERTY OF HAL ROACH STUDIOS LIBRARY. Hand written next to the bookplate is the name Mrs. R.A. Kladay (?), who was presumably once the owner of this book. . 12mo. (20 cm.) [8]3-287[3]p. Black cloth with green letters on the front cover and the spine. Quite a bit of wear to extremities with the corners rubbed through and edges of the boards rubbed through in several places, top of spine unraveling, bottom of spine just starting to unravel, previous owner's bookplate [see above], previous owner's rubbed stamp [see above], covers clean and green lettering bright, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. Dixie Lee Crosby [1909-1952] was an actress, dancer and singer and the first wife of Bing Crosby. Hal Roach Studios, known as The Laugh Factory to the World, was founded by producer Hal Roach and business partners Dan Linthicum and I.H. Nance as the Rolin Film Company in 1914. The studio lot in Culver City was built in 1920, at which time Rolin was renamed to Hal E. Roach Studios. ROAD SHOW was made into a movie in 1941 by Hal Roach and starred Carole Landis, Adolphe Menjou, and John Hubbard. Eric S. Hatch [1901-1973] was an American writer on the staff of The New Yorker, a novelist and screenwriter. This is a rare piece of movie memorabilia! NOTE: This volume was found in an antique store in 2022. Beyond that, I do not know the provenance of this book. Seller Inventory # 009453
