ISBN 0-226-5005-1. [Cat. 2021] 210271 f- The true 1st Printing with one ISBN number on the copyright page & a different ISBN number on the back inside dust jacket flap; The copyright page has nothing in the blank line between Printed in the United States of America and the next line Library of Congress Cataloging Publication Data. On p. 27, the 5th paragraph has adways for always . Unclipped DJ with $7.95 on inside top front flap. The fly fishing title of the decade. When the movie came out, the price of the book skyrocketed. Almost rare in the 1st Printing because of the small press run. The University of Chicago Press printed a small run as a favor to Professor Maclean because he taught at the University. It was the first book of fiction ever published by the press. They never expected it to go through so many printings. I found a number of 1st Printings when I book scouted in Chicago because most dealers didn t know how to identify the true 1st printing. The dust jacket is often rubbed on the edges unless they are protected with a clear DJ cover. This copy has no writing or deformities on the book. This copy in a clear DJ protector has a Near Fine DJ with slight sunning on the spine & very minor rubbing of the spine ends. The book itself is Very Fine. $2300.
