As a cowboy during the early part of the 20th century, Will James saw and did it all--roping, riding, capturing mustangs, even milking cows unsuccessfully--before discovering his talent and love for breaking horses. After becoming too old to do that, he found another talent--drawing and writing books. Author Jim Bramlett tells James' story with compassion and appreciation for his work. Though he doesn't attempt to whitewash James' life, Bramlett concentrates on his genius and examines the career of a man whose art and literature dominated Western conscoiusness for 25 years. Included are photographs, portraits, illustrations, a glossary, and an index. This copy is clean and solid. The endpapers are pictorial.
