Published in Shrewsbury, Shropshire in 1806, this is a rare surviving example of this report on The Ellesmere Canal in Shropshire and Wales, and the opening of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, engineered by Thomas Telford and William Jessop, the report includes costings for the construction of the canal, and lists the members of the proprietors, etc. It describes the route of the canal from its proposed connection to the Wirral Line, Chirck Bank, Llanyymynech, Weston, Frankton, Hampton Bank, Tilstock park, etc. Bound in old marbled paper covered card boards, 11 inches tall approx., the work is divided into three parts as mentioned on the title page, 44 pages and 36 pages. Online institutional library collection copies mention a map, unfortunately that is not bound into this copy. Covers rubbed and worn, old strengthening repair to spine is starting to peel away, internally page edges untrimmed with cockling to the paper, some pages roughly opened with uneven edges, title page browned and marked at leading edge, staining, and foxing to tops of closing page corners, else in good general condition. LACKING THE MAP, ELSE A GENERALLY GOOD EXAMPLE OF THIS VERY SCARCE PAPER.
