First Edition. New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1924. A collectible early printing of Jim Tully’s Beggars of Life: A Hobo Autobiography, a notable work of American social realism. Bound in original blue cloth with gilt lettering to front and spine. Lacking the dust jacket. The binding shows general wear, rubbing, and some fading, particularly to the edges and spine. Internally clean overall, with a noticeable tear to one page and a cut to another (see images), along with light age toning throughout. Binding remains sound. A scarce and desirable first edition, priced to reflect both condition and rarity. An honest copy of a classic work, ideal for collectors seeking an accessible example of this title. International shipping is charged at a flat rate due to AbeBooks system limitations. If actual postage exceeds this amount, the order may be cancelled or additional payment may be requested to complete the purchase.

Store description
Step into the world of Cranston & Perry, where every shelf holds a little history and every book has a story beyond the one printed on its pages. We seek out books with character, from time-worn editions with foxed pages, beautiful bindings and forgotten inscriptions, to collectable children’s books, literary classics, unusual finds and modern voices worth rediscovering. Some are rare. Some are wonderfully ordinary. Some have travelled through generations before reaching us. What matters is that each deserves to find the right reader and a new place on the shelf. Part antiquarian bookseller, part treasure hunter and entirely devoted to books, Cranston & Perry celebrates literature in all its forms: beautiful, rebellious, curious, scholarly, nostalgic and occasionally rather strange. Every book has a past. Every reader begins another chapter. We simply bring the two together.…
