Lovely nostalgic colour-illustrated first page shows proud cook holding her baking. Two other colour plates within. 158 glossy pages. Includes "breads, rolls, buns, cakes, pies, fish, poultry, meats, vegetables, salads, fruits, pickles, sauces, beverages, candies, preserves, etc." - subtitle. Coupon page at back is complete, intact and unmarked. Photo on page 152 reminds us that when this book was printed prairie farmers still delivered their grain to the elevator by horse! Elizabeth Driver's description at O394.1 does not precisely match this unusual first edition variant which was not issued with a colour plate at pages 8 or 10. Unmarked with relatively moderate wear. Binding intact. Original hanger string present at top of spine. Two-inch by two-inch piece missing from top corner of page 57 does not affect text.
