Item description from seller

First edition, first printing. X, 390pp, with black and white plate illustrations. Brown cloth-covered boards, with gilt lettering to the spine. Maps on endpapers. 8vo. Cloth quite heavily rubbed on corners and spine ends, mildly marked and ridged along spine. Both hinges cracked and peeling, loosening front and rear boards. Upper text block edge dust darkened. Endpapers a little toned and mild signs of handling and reading throughout. In its original worn and torn dust wrapper, faded and chapped around edges with some creasing and loss.
