First edition hardcover (of the second volume of an originally two volume set), bound in dark-blue cloth, with gilt decoration (Oxford colophon) on front cover, and gilt lettering on spine, is in VG condition, having light surface wear to covers; small white stain at top of front cover; corners lightly bumped and worn; former owner's bookplate on first fixed endpaper; faint acid-shadows in both endpaper sections (due to long-ago placement of some clippings, etc.); originally published with uncut pages, and some pages appear to be still uncut; deckled edges.
