408pp., xi. NAP. Foreword by James MacGregor Burns. Notes, pp. 382-397; Index, pp. 399-408. Medium blue boards with darker blue cloth spine for brilliant gilt lettering; slight (1/2") peeling of paper where price sticker (ostensibly) was positioned once on front cover at top; lower corners slightly bumped inward; slight rubbing wear at spine ends and corners; small bump to lower rear cover edge at 2 1/2" to left of gutter; slight trace of paper clip once located between inside front cover and ffep: describes much worse than it is, but there you have it. Glossy blue dustwrapper not price-clipped ($9.95) with title lettering in large white letters across top third front cover, just above smaller yellow lettering for subtitle, superimposed over top of image of front cover portrait of JFK on lower 3/5 front cover; author name lettering in white across bottom front cover; spine sunned to lighter blue than front cover, white lettering still strong and eminently readable; small ruffling across spine ends with three tiny tears on lower spine end; small puncture at left front cover gutter up 1 1/2" from lower edge; 1/4" closed tear at gutter lower left front cover; 1/4" closed tear at gutter top left front cover; ruffling at lower cover corners at curls: all flaws have been backed by archival tape and dw now in Brodart mylar, which forgives all sins graciously. Dated "10/24/75" and inscribed on ffep: "For Abe--/ with many thanks,/ Lew", probably Abram Joseph Chayes, Harvard Law Professor who left the Law School to serve in the Kennedy Administration for four years, returning to the Law School then. Wikipedia obituary information reports that "he went by the nickname Abe and never used his middle name or initial". Text is clean, looks unread: tight binding. Vintage is better than new.…

Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.

Shipping terms
All domestic orders will be sent by USPS Media Mail, unless some other mode of shipping is requested or required and accepted in advance of shipping. International orders will be sent by USPS International Flat-Rate Priority envelope or box, unless the current weight and size restrictions cannot be met or insurance is requested or required (e.g., the book is worth $40.00 or more). All books sent by USPS Flat-Rate unpadded envelope (or padded envelope, moreover) will be wrapped in paper and packed between cardboard sheets larger than the book or with cardboard affixed at the corners, in order to prevent damage to the book during shipment. Books sent in boxes will also be wrapped in paper and suitably packed to avoid movement in box. The goal here is to ship essentially at cost, rather than to reap additional profit beyond the cost of shipping, thus keeping the customer's cost for shipping as low as possible.
