Single sided printed broadside, approximately 190mm x 315mm in size. Lightly browned, slightly creased from old folds, top right corner with small amount of loss, a few remnants of paper to reverse where once mounted and a previous owner's name in pen to reverse, but generally clean. The printer was J.[ames] Asperne, at the 'Bible, Crown, and Constitution' (no radical he!) One of many 'invasion threat' broadsides published in 1803, with the usual terrifying visions of the outcome of an invasion by Napoleon's forces, who would "spread murder, rapine, slavery and death, in cruel and horrible wantonness" and whose orders are to "murder all our inhabitants bearing arms in our defence, violate the wives and daughters of our people, and plunder our cities".
