Full speeches transcribed and many fascinating moments detailed throughout the weekend, including Jay Holmes from NASA noting that "the United States space program owes a great deal to science fiction" in "creating public interest and maintaining it in the National Space Program," the Hugo Awards banquet, panels on "Sex and Science Fiction" and "Politics and Science Fiction," and a talk by Jerry Pournelle entitled "Warfare in the Future: 1962-2000.Speakers/attendeesincluded Fritz Leiber (President Emeritus of Chicago Science Fiction League), Robert Bloch, Ted Sturgeon (Guest of Honor), Robert A. Heinlein, Poul Anderson, Shel Silverstein and Hugh Hefner, who "invited several people to be his guests at a party for the remainder of the evening.
