Item description from seller

FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. viii, 374, [2]. Sixteen-page Longmans advertisement section bound before flyleaf. Untrimmed and partly unopened in original blue paper boards backed in grey paper. Some light foxing and spotting. Binding rather worn, paper entirely lost from rear board and mostly from spine, but sound. Early ownership inscription of Mich.(?) Leader to flyleaf. An exercise book for use of students of philosophy at Cambridge by Miles Bland (1786-1867), best known for his popular mathematical schoolbooks. This copy is an unusual survival in its original binding, and the pattern of opened verses unopened sections indicates that it was read carefully, and predominantly in the sections based on Newton?s Principia.
