A collection of the private correspondence and papers of Samuel Pepys, an English writer and Tory politician best remembered today for the diary he kept for almost a decade. The detailed private diary was kept from 1660 until 1669 and is one of the most important primary sources of the Stuart Restoration. This collection of miscellaneous papers comes from the possessions of Pepys' great-great nephew Samuel Pepys Cockerell, an English architect. Edited by Joseph Robson Tanner, an English historian and expert on Samuel Pepys. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrappers are smart with light wear and sunning to the extremities. The odd small closed tear to the panel edges with minor loss to the head and tail of the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good.
