Joan Prinsep, a Girton graduate is left a fortune upon her the death of her Uncle, but who is distressed when she discovers that its source is the rent from a series of slum properties concentrated in Shoreditch, in London''s East End. Pp.viii/307/20 (publisher's catalogue), illustrated title page, historated capitals and decorated head and tailpoeces, a few lminor light spots - mainly to endpapers. Maroon cloth with white titles and a few shells and a flower motif to frontt, title to spine and further shell motifs dulled, wear to top and tail of spine and corner tips. G+.
