Previous owner's name on inside front cover. . . . . . . . . . . A FASCINATING LOOK AT THE LIFE OF A CATHOLIC PRIEST - The author states in the Introduction to this 1981 book, *I wanted to know such a man well enough to write about him. I began my search, looking for a parish priest who would be neither saint nor drudge. I talked to a number of these young priests in various parishes. When I told them what I planned to do, several of them mentioned Brian O'Connor and Incarnation parish. Incarnation, I was told, was a large, bustling parish that was ethnically varied. I began to follow Brian in the heat of July, and I concluded my work with him on Christmas Day. During those six months I became a presence in Brian's life; he sacrificed much of his privacy for my benefit. I followed him everywhere he went, taking notes. We sat for hours, taping his feelings on relevant subjects. He talked to me about his thoughts and responded to my probing. Out of a mass of accumulated material I attempted to shape a book that would accurately reflect the nature of his life and the strength of his faith. I have not tried to write a book about the Catholic Church as an institution. One volume would not be enough to accomplish that. I have tried to write a book about a man who is a priest, about how he lives his life and honors his God.* -- Steven H. Propp.
