Add to basketThe Powder Flask Book: Treating of the history and use of the flask as a principal accessory to the firearm, from its inception, through the ages, until the popular acceptance of the metallic cartridge, and giving emphasis to the powder flasks of the nineteenth century, noting their significance and values for shooters and collectors of antique arms and flasks; by Ray Riling; with an Introductory Chapter by Harold L. Peterson, Chief, Historical Investigations Branch, National Park Service; published by Robert Halter ? The River House, New Hope, Pennsylvania, 1953. First edition. Loosely inserted is a large The Powder Flask Bookmark.
From the blurb ? This complete book will have your complete approval. There seems to be no reason at all why any intelligent flask or arms collector would want one copy of this book?If he is intelligent he will want two copies! ? one to keep for daily use and one to lock up for future use when the first copy has been permanently ?borrowed? by someone who failed to buy his own before the edition was out of print.
What other book is there on powder flasks? None! Where else can you find exactly scaled pictures of 1600 flasks from the earliest gems to the production flasks of the nineteenth century? Nowhere! And these are all priced at current values in a numerical listing.
This is not a book only about flasks. It also treats expertly of shot pouches, cappers, chargers, measures; of flask patent drawings from Europe and America; of exactly how to buy and sell flasks; and how to photograph, record, and display a collection.
This very large book, 495 pages is in fine condition, in a good dust jacket, that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. This heavy book may require additional postage.
