Marbled boards with leather margins lavishly decorated in gilt, the four front corners rubbed and the front lower one slightly bumped; the leather spine with five raised bands lettered and decorated in gilt, the hinges rubbed but firm with just a 1 cm split to lower front one. Internally significant foxing to text as far as page 18 and then largely absent before resuming on page 207. Unmarked endpapers and two foxed blanks before relatively clean title page followed by soiled and restored illustrated frontis of white ducks with chicks; tanned two page Preface, one page Contents + List of Illustrations and Errata slip. Three of the twenty two plates missing: Ptarmigan Chickens, Rouen Ducks and Black East Indian .Ducks, but with on extra plate; Black Polands (page 157). All plates show various degrees of foxing; the Partridge Shanghae plate reinforced on under side and page 15 repaired with archival tape. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
