Item description from seller

Oblong 8vo. Wrappers. Dressy 28-page exposition of the tasks and costs of the Post Office ("The Post Office pays £32 million a year for rail, road, air and sea transport. This works out at 13/-d. a year for every man, woman and child in the country"), with persuasive graphics arguing for a mechanised future ("PERFECT SORTING MACHINE - A ROBOT . . . This machine may never come!") and for "Letter Coding". Postcodes were introduced experimentally in Norwich the following year; the scheme went nationwide in 1974.
