Add to basketFirst Edition (1939), so stated. Very Good in Good DJ: The Book shows fairly mild bumping to the upper corners, which have become somewhat soft and the text pages show a slightly bend near that corner; faint indications of shelving at the bottom edge of the panels; the binding shows slight lean, but remains perfectly secure; the text is clean. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia in the text. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, tightly bound, showing moderate wear and minor flaws. The DJ shows farily heavy wear to the extremities, with loss to chipping at the head and heel of the backstrip; some loss due to rubbing at the corner tips and several short tears and small chips to the top edge of the front panel; moderate rubbing to the panels and some faint, but pervasive soiling to the rear panel; the price has been clipped; mylar-protected. Serviceable, and the striking image on the front panel is almost entirely intact. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Folio. (12.5 x 10.25 x 0.75 inches). Introduction by Charles Simpson, R.I., followed by 48 full-page Sepia-toned plates. Cream-toned buckram cloth over boards with crimson titles at the front panel and backstrip. Profusely illustrated with black and white photographs of a single female nude in a variety of poses set of course in shadow. Language: English. Weight: 2 pound, 9.9 ounces. Hardback with DJ. Everard, a British World War I veteran and former tea planter, became a self-taught press and studio photographer after the war and from the late 1920s into the 1960s was a noted photographer of nudes, writing a number of books on the subject. "Portrait of a Model" is his sixth work.
