About this Item
Very Nice Biography Of Camus, Translated From The French Original By T.C. Sharman. Illustrated With Some Very Nice Black And White Photographs: Camus A Goodlooking Man Very Bogart-Like In The Style Of The Time. The Author Made Extensive Use Of Camus' Works And Diaries, So Much That The French Original Was Titled, "Camus Par Lui-Meme" (Camus [Written] By Himself). It Was Published In 1963, Just Three Years After Camus Died In A Car Accident, And There Is A Real Immediacy To The Sorrow Brought By This "Untimely, Unjust, Most Absurd Death." Includes Chronology And Bibliography Which Makes Clear How Much He Was Involved In Politics, Including The Resistance In France During World War Ii, The Hungarian Revolution, The Unrest In His Native Algeria, East German Demonstrations And The Like; His Nobel Prize In 1957 Was Awarded "For His Works Throwing Light On The Problems Facing The Consciences Of Men." This Is An Ex Library Book With Some Of The Usual Flaws. The Black-And-White Dust Jacket Is In Very Good Condition In Its Protective Cover (Unfortunately Glued). It Is Clipped And There Is A Small Strip Of The Laminate Missing From The Side Of The Front Panel. Nice Blue Boards With Gold Lettering With Tape Stains, Fading At To Lilac At The Edges.
