About this Item
1034 pp., gilt edges, original end papers, biographical index, Arizona historical index, and Arizona county historical index, quality photographs. Now protected in a clear Mylar cover. A tight, near fine copy with rubs and wear marks to the full leather covers but internally unmarked, intact and unblemished. This 119 year old volume comes from the estate Charles Spencer Clark (1833-1903). C.S. Clark was a Civil War veteran, lawyer, Arizona legislator, and resident of Tombstone, Arizona from 1879 till his death in 1903. He is buried in the Tombstone Cemetery. This then is a RARE full leather presentation copy provided to Arizona territorial legislators, of which C.S. Clark was prominent. Laid in the book is a copy photograph of C.S. Clark. This book is of considerable value to the Arizona territorial researcher or historian, it contains excellent photographs of many of the pioneer "movers and shakers" of the Arizona Territory. The photographs of these Arizona pioneers, accompanying their biographical description, are stunning. Some examples of biographies are Col. Charles Spencer Clark, William M. Breakenridge, Charles Shibell, William "Bucky" O'Neill, Henry Clay Hooker, George W. Cheney, E.B. Gage and many more. The counties of Arizona are well represented with many of the pioneer biographies coming from Cochise County, many of the pioneers, including C.S. Clark, were there when Tombstone was booming! Please note this book weighs a little over nine pounds extra shipping charges may apply depending on the buyer's location. As fine a copy as we have ever handled, an Arizona treasure. EXCEPTIONAL.
